I am one to be easily inspired. Inspiration to me can be,
- Art I see in a magazine of a girl that reminds me of me
- A recipe I see on a blog
- People my age doing what they love
- Creators
- A self-care YouTube video
- A beautiful, new, white embossed journal
- A memoir
- Stories of happiness
- Stories of success
…and so much more
I wanted to highlight on a few of the items above in particular as they have inspired me the most and have given me the most momentum
First I will start with ‘People my age doing what they love’ I am sure everyone who sees people their age, or around their age, doing something they love would be inspired, just as I get inspired by those people. At first, I will admit, I may have categorized this as ‘jealousy,’ but I’ve grown to realize I am internally inspired by these humans. These could be entrepreneurs, creatives, world travelers, published writers…the list could go on. I am inspired by what they do and how they do it; and honestly the fact that they are simply put, just doing it (Nike got it right). I think if we have a passion (strong word) or interest, just getting out there and doing it, one day at a time, it will begin to give you the energy you wish to feel if you are like me when you see those humans who are doing the things they love. For instance, this blog, let alone this post, is giving me extreme energy just writing it out, as this is something I love to do and I’m just doing it, one word at a time
I also realized out of this, that you don’t have to go big or go home with certain things. Yes, for some things putting a max amount of effort and energy into something is needed in order to be successful, but for some things, like things that inspire you and ignite the energy to your soul, it doesn’t have to mean that. Going at your own pace, and at your own time, all while incorporating your inspirations in between, can make you feel more at ease.
I am a big believer of one day at a time ~ So one day at a time I will write, I will take pictures, I will edit, and post and so much more, all while enhancing my creativity and fulfilling my passions that I was inspired by, and that I continue to be inspired by each and every day. So in return, I can think to myself that I am one of those people who is doing what they love, and I will enjoy every second of what my experiences have to offer.
The next item would be ‘A beautiful, new, white embossed journal’
Think of one item that makes you super happy… A hard question, I know, but something that comes to mind for me is a blank, new journal, and I’ll tell you why…
I always have loved capturing my story within the pages of a lined (or unlined) journal. Since elementary school, I’ve always loved having a what was then called a ‘diary’ a now called a, ‘journal’. Having what feels like an endless amount of pages excites me. It is as if the pages take us along the journey of life as we can document each moment. It can even act as more of a place for notes, poems, recipes, or drawings, it’s really a blank page for anything to happen, which I absolutely love.
So, how does a blank journal, well more specifically, a beautiful, new, white embossed journal inspire me? It shows me that anything is possible. It sounds cliche and a little over the top, I know. It’s just a journal; but to me, it really means that we have permission to write or draw, or document whatever we want within those pages. It can be themed, or totally hodgepodge. The fact that it is up to us is truly inspiring to me. And of course the fact that white leather embossed journals are simply beautiful to the eye, it’s simply captivating. Even if you own piles of journals and not all of them are written in, that is okay! Life is full of moments worth capturing.
Like my favorite writing instructor once told the class, ‘too many journals and books are never clutter‘
The last item I want to highlight would be ‘Stories of Success’
I absolutely love seeing and hearing about success stories; who wouldn’t? They are uplifting, motivating, and for sure inspiring. As I am sure most people go through events or times in their life that may not have been their best moments or memories, I personally think that seeing success stories of people who are just like the everyday person can be very healing. It can even be a story about getting wherever it is you want to be, it is not all about the destination, as they say, it too is about the journey. I tie that in with inspiration as I am in a process of everyday healing from my own past. As much as I do not love to think about past, as it is the past, I do my best to take each step into the days ahead with a positive approach. It’s funny after you go through something, sometimes you finally start to understand it, and grasp its meaning a little tighter when you are within the healing process. That is what is currently happening for me. It’s like the more I am moving away from my past, the clearer it becomes (if that makes any sense) and it’s oddly enough helping light the way ahead. I say all this in regards to how success stories are inspiring because as many stories as I may see in the news, online and within social media, and as much as I am inspired by those, I am also starting to be inspired by my own story. My story isn’t better than any one else’s, but it is mine, so it is unique. So yes, stories of success, breakthroughs and healing all do inspire me. They help me remember why I am on this journey and they help make sense of the world around me. They help me focus on the ‘now’ and stay present. They are great examples of people who are working incredibly hard, in all of the ways, who strive towards a goal, and they get there. I honestly believe with hard work, determination, and positivity, we will all find success at whatever it is we want to accomplish.
What inspires us makes us who we are
