This past weekend really reminded me of why I love interior design. When I walk into a space and I automatically pull out my phone to document the space to remember its style, that is when I know that I have fallen for the design
What caught my eye this past weekend were the tall windows in the kitchen that framed the room letting just the perfect amount of natural light in / Along with the aged wooden cabinets that lay above the counter, two in particular that caught my eye / It was the row of pans along the center of the room…design with a purpose
It was paper art of printed butterflies, almost falling from a scroll / And a light fixture that, as incomplete as it looked, completed the space / And also the mirror, adding length to the room, as it caught the rays of the Sunday sun / And of course the antique photos, bringing the space and its charm to life
Design in general gives permission to explore creativity
I was exposed to interior design very early on as I would visit my parents as they worked at a local showroom. I was at the young age of 7, getting lost amongst rows of hanging fabric, while flipping through the new and old wallpaper books. I feel like the only books I was drawn to at the time were wallpaper books, pure fiction; a chance for my imagination to take off. A chance to explore creative thinking
I was surrounded by thousands of colors and textures as I would journey throughout the showroom from 9 to 5. The showroom, a story, that would always begin anew come 9am each morning
Design is a journey of discovery

My days were just that, a journey of discovery~As I discover an experience with design, I continue to feel the passion for it come alive (even some 20 years later) Just as in the spaces that make me take out my camera to document it – a forever memory
Design is thinking made visual
Saul Bass
When I look at a space, to me, it is a piece of artwork. Combined thoughts that work together to create a beautiful space. Each space holds its own purpose…Just as we do…We all have a purpose in life, a story to tell, and thoughts that accompany one another inside our head. Interior design, and any design in fact, is one way to help express our thoughts and emotions; display what sometimes is easier done, or created, than said
I will always love and appreciate interior design. Its uniqueness, its comfort and joy. How it was the kick start to so many days of pure discovery and creative imagination
